Day off DIY

Since days off are practically nonexistent and it's too expensive to go to the salon, I like to pamper myself every chance I get.  I love taking baths and giving myself facials. Beauty products are expensive so I decided to make my own. Besides, I like the idea of using all natural products on my body instead of using all those harsh chemicals for my sensitive skin. Here's what I found:

Cinnamon, Nutmeg Facial Mask
Mix together:
3 Tablespoons of Honey (Make sure it's raw organic)
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1 Teaspoon Nutmeg

This is the amount the recipe makes. I have used my mixture 4 times and I still have half the bowl left.

Apply generously to your face and neck area. Be careful the mixture is very sticky from the honey and can make a mess. If you get it on your lips you can lick it off. YUM. Leave the mask on for 30 minutes. Relax, during your wait, read the most recent issue of your favorite fashion magazine, and feel the mask doing it's magic. I could feel it tingling my skin while I had it on.

Next, Wash off the mask. It's easiest to remove it in the shower.

Moisturize with coconut oil and you will magically look like this:

Cheers to the Weekend

(This post is kind of a rant but I felt it was necessary to post)

I was driving home from school and this song "Cheers To The Weekend" was  blasting was playing so loud on the radio that my hubby shut the radio off. The lyrics of the song inspired me to write this post. Yes I am super happy that it's Friday, date night, and the weekend. When the verse played that said, "cheers to the freaking weekend lets drink to that," got to me. I thought to myself here is another way drinking is glamorized to young people. Video's like this one give people a false sense of enjoyment.

I have no problem with people that drink alcohol! What I do have a problem with is how much alcohol costs a person in the long run.  Alcohol can cost a person hundreds, or even thousands when it not done responsibly. Peoples judgement becomes impaired and they usually end up compulsive spending and that can be a huge burden on your budget. Besides BARS and restaurants make their largest profit margin from alcohol. The translation of this statement means consumers are paying WAY too much to drink.

My whole point to this post is weekends can be enjoyable with out spending every last penny. Being responsible saves a lot of money! So everybody Cheers to the Freaking weekend, don't go to the bar, and be happy that you have some money left in the bank when you do something else cheaper.

The Benefits of Yogurt

I try to eat as healthy as possible but it's hard when there is not an infinite amount of funds to buy the latest and greatest organic food out there. Besides living in a small area doesn't exactly have all of the resources living in large area has to offer. So I make do and eat what is offered to me. Yogurt is one cheapest ways to stay healthy. I decided to do a little research and find out why it so healthy.

According to the WebMD the health benefits of yogurt include:

  • Benefit No. 1: Yogurt May Help Prevent Osteoporosis
  • Benefit No. 2: Yogurt May Reduce the Risk of High Blood Pressure
  • Benefit No. 3: Yogurt With Active Cultures Helps the Gut
  • Benefit No. 4: Yogurt With Active Cultures May Discourage Vaginal Infections
  • Benefit No. 5: Yogurt May Help You Feel Fuller

As you all know I am a BZZAgent and I get free products to try and evaluate. For my most rececent campaign I was given Kroger Brand Yogurts to try. CARBmaster cultured dairy blends are lower in carbs, calories and sugar than regular yogurt (without sacrificing taste!) My favorite flavor is the blackberry. I also love the Key Lime Pie flavor. You can replace this yogurt when you want to eat an unhealthy treat.
CARBmaster is exclusively available at the Kroger family of grocery stores and tastes just as good as the name brand yogurts. They are usually about 20 cents cheaper to buy too!

If you want to try the yogurt I have a lot of coupons and would be happy to help you save money to be being healthy!

Some Great Deals I Found

For a while I was burnt out on couponing. I felt like the sales and the coupons were not matching up so I kind of strayed away from the grocery game for a bit. Plus I think the show, Extreme Couponing is ruining it for us non extreamers. Most stores in my area have become really strict about their policies and it's more of a pain then an enjoyment to use coupons. We had a chance to eat and use everything I stocked up on so I decided to get back in the game.

I found a few good deals this week:

WalGreens has a great deal on Purex Laundry Soap. When you pair the sale with the coupon from last Sunday's paper the final cost is $1.99.

WalMart, has become my favorite place to coupon shop. I got  16 things and only paid $8.53. :)

Lins has a 10 lb case of chicken breasts for $14.90. (Not sure about the quality but I will let you know when I eat them.)

Anyway, Happy Shopping and TGIF!

Mom's Are The Bestest!

My mom is the best! I came home from school and she left a bag of goodies hanging on the handle of my front door. Inside the bag had 2 skirts, 2 shirts, a pair of socks and a bunch or oranges. The skirts were on clearance at Wal Mart and only cost $1. Yep.... super cute skirts for $1....and the shirts were only $1.  A big whopping $4. I have the best mom in the whole world. She always knows how to take care of me.

Anyway... Go to Wal Mart and find some cute things. Share with me your purchases.

I am excited to do my spring break blog project and show how you can be fashionable and not break the bank.  Keep checking back for some fun new posts.
